Workers looking for change will not find it from the general election. Whatever the result, the tasks for our class will be the same. Workers are the only force for progress: accept that challenge and prepare to fight for it.

Political statement from the 13th Congress of the CPBML, London, 21/22 April 2003. Capitalism is now in terminal decay, unable to feed, clothe, house, provide work for or meet the needs of the people of this country. From seeming synonymous with manufacture, capital is now its antithesis.

New preface, January 2001
This document, agreed thirty years ago at the Party's second Congress, was adopted subsequently as its programme. It has remained so ever since, unchanged, because its fundamental tenets are as true and important today as they were then.
At the end of February the goverment announced a provisional agreement (the Windsor Framework) with the EU to resolve difficulties with the Northern Ireland Protocol. Rishi Sunak claims this will “take back control” of Northern Ireland. It won’t.
Control over borders is the best way for a country to develop its economy and benefit its people. Such self-determination and independence serve the cause of workers everywhere.
To raise the question of taking control runs counter to the world of politicians’ competing claims to act on our behalf…
On 16 January 2024 the eligibility of overseas voters in UK elections will change dramatically – allowing those who don’t live in Britain to influence what happens here.
From January people who have left Britain will be allowed to vote in elections here, for life. This will allow people living abroad to influence what happens here.
Once again, the US is seeking to make even greater use of its bases in Britain. And once again, opposition is building…
